The editorial office is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. Mellissa Withers (Figure 1) as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Public Health and Emergency (JPHE), effective from July 1, 2023. Prof. Withers is currently an Associate Professor at the Keck School of Medicine in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences. She is also Director of the Global Health Program of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, a non-profit network of 60+ universities in the region. Her research interests include community-based participatory research methods, mental health, gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health. Prof. Withers is the editor of two books: Global Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health Across the Lifecourse, and Global Health Leadership: Case Studies from the Asia-Pacific. She has published more than 60 scientific articles and serves on the editorial boards of six international global health journals.
We are thrilled to have Prof. Withers in the new position, as her expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing progress of JPHE while infusing it with a fresh wave of brilliance. We firmly believe that under the joint leadership of Dr. Zhu and Prof. Withers, the journal will not only attain a higher standard but also enjoy enhanced prestige.
