The APRU Global Health Conference 2025 - Towards Planetary Health Equity: A Global Call for Shared Solutions

The APRU Global Health Conference 2025, co-hosted by the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), is scheduled to take place from 28 to 31 October 2025, at the Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The APRU is a network of leading research universities in the Pacific Rim region, dedicated to fostering collaboration in education, research, and innovation. This annual APRU Global Health Conference will bring experts from various fields to address pressing global health challenges and explore innovative solutions.

This year’s conference theme, “Towards Planetary Health Equity: A Global Call for Shared Solutions,” underscores the urgent need for interdisciplinary, collaborative action to address the intertwined challenges of health, climate change, and social equity.

Our Key Objectives 

  • Advancing Planetary Health: Foster discussions on the interconnections between human, environmental, and animal health to promote sustainable solutions for a healthier planet. 
  • Bridging Health Inequities: Address disparities in healthcare access and outcomes, particularly in vulnerable populations affected by environmental and socioeconomic factors. 
  • Strengthening Global Collaboration: Build stronger networks among academia, policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society to drive impactful, evidence-based solutions. 
  • Innovating for Resilience: Explore new approaches and technologies that enhance health systems’ capacity to respond to emerging global health threats, including climate change, pandemics, and environmental degradation. 

Our Focus Areas 

The conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions centred on: 

  • Climate Change & Health: Understanding the health impacts of climate change and strategies for adaptation and mitigation. 
  • Environmental Sustainability & Public Health: Examining policies and practices that promote a sustainable and healthy environment. 
  • Equitable Healthcare Systems: Addressing barriers to healthcare access and strategies for universal health coverage. 
  • One Health Approach: Exploring the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health in tackling emerging infectious diseases. 
  • Technology & Innovation in Global Health: Showcasing digital health solutions, AI, and innovations to improve health equity and outcomes. 
  • Policy & Governance for Health Equity: Identifying policies that drive structural changes for a more just and inclusive health system.

With the theme of “Towards Planetary Health Equity: A Global Call for Shared Solutions” this year, the Conference is now calling for abstracts from around the world.

Submission

Abstracts must be submitted via the Abstract Submission Portal by 31st May 2025.

Abstract Publication

All abstracts for the conference presentations will be published in the Journal of Public Health and Emergency (JPHE).

Student Poster Contest

In conjunction with the 18th APRU Global Health Conference 2025, the APRU Global Health Program is organising the 11th Annual Student Poster Contest Rules (2025).

Eligibility

  • Current full-time undergraduate and graduate students from any university are invited to submit an academic poster to the contest.
  • You must submit the final poster, along with a separate written abstract of up to 300 words about the poster.
  • Postdoctoral students are not eligible. However, medical students are eligible to apply as undergraduate or graduate students (depending upon your program).
  • The poster must be related to broadly global health.
  • Collaborative poster presentations are acceptable; however, the student must be the first author. Please indicate if the poster is being submitted by more than one student.
  • Only one submission per student (as first author).

Poster Required Elements

You can use any program to create the poster, such as MS PowerPoint, Canva, etc. The size of the poster should be A1 [59.4 x 84.1 centimetres (cm) or 23.4 x 33.1 inches (in)]. The minimum font size should be 18 pt. Posters should be only one page. Posters larger than that will NOT be eligible.
