Tom Lang, MA, Principal

Tom is an international consultant and educator in medical communications and scientific publications. Formerly Manager of Medical Editing Services at the Cleveland Clinic, he was also Senior Scientific Writer at the New England Evidence-based Practice and Cochrane Centers at Tufts University. His books, How to Report Statistics in Medicine and How to Write, Publish, and Present in the Health Sciences, are standard references in evidence-based medicine and medical writing. He helped develop the CONSORT guidelines for reporting randomized trials and the PRISMA guidelines for reporting systematic reviews/meta-analyses. A Past President of the Council of Science Editors, he is currently Treasurer of the World Association of Medical Editors. Since 2000, he has taught medical writing at the University of Chicago and for the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers. He has received teaching awards from the American Medical Writers Association, the American Statistical Association, and the University of Chicago.
